• We are concerned with the possible disturbance of sediments by boating activity and the potential release of nutrients into the water column.
  • Buoys were placed in shallow areas around the Lake (see lake map below with depths of 2m =6 ft marked in white) beginning in 2015 with an increased number in 2018. Note in particular the shallow sill that separates the southern and middle parts of the lake.
  • Most boaters have observed the markers and reduced boat speeds in shallow areas and reduced wake zones near shore.
  • Signage was posted beginning in August 2016 at the boat launch to inform boaters of the presence of algae in the Lake and the need to disinfect boats before and after use. Note that numerous algae are still present in the lake even if there is no noticeable bloom (i.e. greenish water).
